"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\Enterprise\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" /log c:\src\vs2022log.xml If this doesn't help, can you please get VS2022 to log its startup, loading the IDE normally and seeing the problem. Under this button can you please try "Repair", and see if this makes any difference? On the entry for VS2022 there is the "More" pull down list button. I am sorry to hear that, it was nice to think that a Windows update might have fixed things, and it even made a strange form of sense.Ĭan you please try closing VS2022 and then loading "Visual Studio Installer". Just re-starting the studio caused the problem. The problem re-appeared and it is not related to a reboot. This almost suggests that the trigger could lay outside of Visual Studio, but certainly doesn't prove that theory. Thank you for the update, and I am glad to hear that the problem is now fixed. BTW I never saw the problem on my notebook computer running the released Win11 I don't see the problem anymore after I installed the Win11 22H2 release preview. tkontos, are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11? VA about says Windows 10, but the version number suggests Windows 11.Īre you aware of anything "odd" or "unusual" about your system that might help to explain why you are seeing this problem? Several of our users are reporting it, but I am wondering if there is a trigger, perhaps related to some other tool you have installed, the version of Windows, or something else? I am just looking for clues at the moment. I am still searching for clues to try and explain why some people are seeing this problem a lot, while others don't see any sign of it. Tkontos, if you have the time to try, could you please try rebooting Windows into safe mode next time you restart, and then loading VS2022, to see if this also causes the icons to go black? If you are not sure how to do this, this page explains the process: I am currently trying to reproduce this here, using the installed components of someone else who sees this problem a lot, so I will try rebooting as well, as I test this, to see if it helps to trigger the problem. This coming back on reboot is really surprising. The icons, however, disappear every time I reboot the computer. I have the same problem that I can fix with 'devenv /setup'. If so, that could help us to find the reason.Ĭurrently I have some changes that could fix the problem,īut we are unable to reproduce the issue. Have you tried the /setup as Chris have suggested to AlfredS? How are you loading the IDE? Are you passing any command line switches? Double clicking on a solution file?ĭo you have any other extensions installed? It is possible that there is an interaction going on with another extension if you do. I wonder if the fact that the icons worked on the first load is a clue. Same issue the OP has, nothing helped.Īfter reinstalling VA2451 completely the icons are visible, by starting the VS IDE the next time they are gone. It should reset your VS caches and allow the icons to be loaded in. Zen is the art of being at one with the two'nessĪlfredS, please try running devenv.exe /setup. Including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up. I can then import them here and see if I can reproduce the problem. IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings VA Options -> Performance -> Export Settings How are you loading the IDE? Are you double clicking on a SLN file? Passing any command line arguments to the IDE?Ĭan you please export your VA and IDE settings and send them to me: So this problem doesn't automatically happen with this version of VS2022, which is something.Ĭan you please try making a new, default C++ solution and see if you still see this problem, just in case this is somehow solution specific. Loading a new, default C++ solution both versions of VA show the toolbar icons correctly for me. I have just installed VS2022 Enterprise version 17.0.5 under Windows 10, on a machine with no instances of the IDE at all, and then installed first VA 2443 and then VA 2451. The restart of the VS, PC, and reload of the sln doesn't help. Uninstall, and installation of VA doesn't help. I have the same problem with the empty toolbar in Visual Studio Enterprise 2022 (64-bit) Version 17.0.5 when VA2451 is installed.Īt the moment we are not able to update to a newer VS-Version. Before you updated VS and the issue resolved, did you try opening a solution? Did you have VA previously installed on this copy of VS? Ok, I've just updated Visual Studio, and now I see the icons. I've just installed VA2451 (Build 2022.2) and I can see no VA icons on the toolbar in VS2022 Enterprise (version 17.1.2, in Spanish).
